The car is down for the winter, and the rust shown in the picture is being tackled.
Well the car is down for the winter, and work on some of the rust has begun.
There is a lot more filler in the rear wings of the car than I would like.
However the rust at the rear deck was just surface rust.
The back panel around the rear light is quite bad too.

When owning a 25 year old car rust is always the enemy. The car is on axle stands awaiting parts, so I decided to tackle some rust in the boot/trunk. The spare wheel well had some bad surface rust, I grinded it off and treated with rust stopper, this I painted over with hammerite.
This should hold ok, however there is a corner seam in the trunk floor. It didn't look too bad , however on grinding it off I was left with some holes. I treated it as above for the moment, it will need some welding and new metal though in the long term.

The wheel arches and rear deck also have some rust patches, I hope to attend to these during the cars down time in the winter.

The picture below is of my 1980 Tr7 dhc. It's 25 years old, and I have it 3 years now. It only gets used in the summer so it hibernates 6 months of the year.
When I got it, I fitted electronic ignition, larger jets, k and n filters and a large bore exhaust.
So now it starts easily and sounds good too!
The problems have been, track control arms needed replacing.
The steering rod gaiters were shot so they got replaced.
A water leak at the pump which was hard to fix.
All rubber hosing has been replaced.
Carbeurettors rebuilt, with new mounts.

The problems at the moment are, a rattling tie rod on the rear suspension. Upon taking apart bolts were found to be worn, new ones on order. The clutch slave cylinder is leaking, also on order. and the boot lid key got lost. so for the moment it's on axle stands.
